Semi-Annual Congregation Meeting

Place : 301/Fellowship Hall

A Semi-Annual Congregation Meeting will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019, at 10:45 am in 301/Fellowship Hall.

Agenda items include:

  • A vote on the proposal by the Building and Property Committee to replace the existing furnace for the Sanctuary with a new heating/cooling system. The proposed new system has heating and air conditioning; is all electric, so it is not burning fossil fuels, and gets greener as the grid gets greener; and is significantly more efficient than the 1960 natural gas furnace we’re currently using. Paper mock-ups of the three indoor units and duct pipe have been placed in the Sanctuary to give a visual representation of what the new system will look like (the same setup will be on both sides of the Sanctuary). The cost is approximately $130,000 to be funded mostly from the Maintenance Reserve Fund. The funding request requires congregation approval. June 23 update:  this motion was approved.
  • We will also vote on adopting the Mission Statement and Values that were introduced at the Annual Meeting in January:
Proposed Mission Statement: Growing Together in Christ to Love and Serve All People
    Proposed Values:
Worship: Responding to God’s gift of Grace through Word and Sacrament, with praise, prayer and music.  (Ephesians 5:18b-20, Romans 12:1)
Discipleship: Nurturing the growth of Christian faith in all ages as we learn from and follow Jesus.  (Colossians 1:10, 2 Timothy 3:14-17)
Outreach: Serving and loving our neighbors with generosity and justice by sharing of our gifts from God.  (Mark 10:43-45, Matthew 25:35-40)
Relationship: Living as a compassionate community sharing God’s forgiveness and acceptance of all.  (John 13:34-35, Colossians 3:12-14)
June 23 update: this motion was approved.
  • We will hear updates about: the work of the Call Committee and Pastoral Transition process; finances; and current work of committees and Council initiatives.

A quorum is required. Every voice and vote counts; please plan to attend!
