Congregation Liaison: Outreach and Servant Ministries Committee

Congregations for the Homeless (CFH) is an organization whose mission is to end homelessness on the Eastside by helping men make the transition from life on the street to stable, independent living.

CFH operates a year-round rotating shelter program; comprehensive case management and life coaching for the men served; an emergency shelter that is an overnight refuge and can connect clients to needed resources; a day center that provides men with meals, showers, laundry facilities, computers, clothing, bus tickets, and hygiene products; and a subsidized housing program to help men transition to independent living.

The administrative offices of CFH were at Saint Andrew’s for ten years. They are now located at Lincoln Center in Bellevue.

Saint Andrew’s supports CFH with budgeted funds, collection of clothing and toiletries, and by providing meals for the men in the year-round rotating shelter for two weeks each October. We will also host the Rotating Shelter Program for the month of March 2020.

Congregations for the Homeless Rotating Shelter Program

Congregations for the Homeless requested that Saint Andrew’s consider hosting their Rotating Shelter Program for the month of March 2020.

After eight weeks of thoughtful discussion, prayerful discernment, and due diligence, the Congregation Council, at their October 14, 2019 meeting, voted to accept the CFH request. In support of the Council’s decision, the Council agrees to prayerfully support the Saint Andrew’s volunteer core team. Council members Carolynn Ferris and Dan Johnson will serve as key contacts and advisers to the Saint Andrew’s liaison and core team volunteers.

If you would like to serve on the volunteer core team, which will oversee and coordinate hosting the program at Saint Andrew’s, complete a commitment form found in the Narthex or here:

CFH Volunteer Team Form

The form has more information and a place to indicate your commitment. Submit or return the commitment form to the Narthex.
