Congregation Liaison: Outreach and Servant Ministries Committee
Congregations for the Homeless (CFH) is an organization whose mission is to end homelessness on the Eastside by helping men make the transition from life on the street to stable, independent living.
CFH operates a year-round shelter program; comprehensive case management and life coaching for the men served; an emergency winter shelter that is an overnight refuge and can connect clients to needed resources; a day center that provides men with meals, showers, laundry facilities, computers, clothing, bus tickets, and hygiene products; and a subsidized housing program to help men transition to independent living.
The administrative offices of CFH were at Saint Andrew’s for ten years. They are now located at Lincoln Center in Bellevue.
Saint Andrew’s supports CFH with budgeted funds, collection of clothing and toiletries, and by providing meals for the men in the year-round shelter for two weeks each October.
Dinners are served at 7:15 pm
Sign up in the Narthex in September 2019.
October beckons us to again share our comfort and concerns by walking with the Congregations for the Homeless men’s program, as our witness of God’s Love.
For two weeks in October, Saint Andrew’s Lutheran provides the dinner meals for 35 men hosted at a local church through the Congregations for the Homeless program.
Volunteers cook and prepare the dinner meals, and then deliver and serve the meals.
Meals should be delivered at 6:30 pm, and serving begins at 7:15 pm.
Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to join in the meals with the men.
This is a wonderful outreach opportunity for individuals, small groups, families and friends!
For more information or questions please contact the church office.
CFH is in need of re-usable water bottles, toiletries (especially toothbrushes and toothpaste), jeans, belts, new underwear, t-shirts, light jackets, sweatshirts, fleece jackets, socks, athletic shoes, casual pants and shirts, towels for showers, sweat pants, and sleeping bags.
Bring donations to the “CFH” basket in the Narthex.
