Congregation Liaison: Outreach and Servant Ministries Committee

Imagine Housing began in 1987 as St. Andrew’s Housing Group, the first outreach ministry seeded and started by members of Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church. A small group of highly passionate people saw a clear need for more affordable housing in East King County. They were not content to sit on the sidelines, and soon formed St. Andrew’s Housing Group as an independent non-profit organization focused entirely on creating affordable apartment homes in the region. In 2011, St. Andrew’s Housing Group adopted the name Imagine Housing and is now considered the leading non-profit affordable housing developer in East King County.

Imagine Housing builds permanent, multifamily, affordable rental housing for the very lowest income families on the Eastside, and provides targeted services and support that residents need to be stable, self-supporting and contributing members of the Eastside community. Imagine Housing’s 14 residential communities provide affordable rental homes to over 1200 people.

Saint Andrew’s supports Imagine Housing with budgeted funds and participation at events and fundraisers. Many Saint Andrew’s members have served and currently serve on Imagine Housing’s Board of Directors.

Current and Ongoing Opportunities

Gala and Auction
Imagine Housing’s annual gala and auction raises funds for operating expenses and is also an event designed to celebrate the creation of homes and the restoration of hope!

Drivers to deliver Childcare Items
Imagine Housing partners with Eastside Baby Corner to provide basic needs items to families. Volunteers are needed to help transport donations of kids items from Eastside Baby Corner (in Issaquah) to Imagine Housing’s Kirkland, Bellevue, and Issaquah communities. This helps ensure that parents have the resources they need to raise happy, healthy kids.

Drivers to deliver Food
Volunteers are needed on Fridays to transport food to Imagine Housing residents. These are residents who are unable to travel to the food bank on their own.

Drivers to deliver Fresh Produce
Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays to transport fresh produce from a local farm to Imagine Housing residents.

Community Meals
Imagine Housing provides community meals at several of their properties each month to give residents an opportunity to meet and feel a sense of community with their neighbors. The properties are located in Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah and Sammamish, and provide homes for individuals, families, seniors and veterans in need. Provide part or all of a meal, or volunteer during the meal.

Contact Imagine Housing to learn more about these opportunities.
