This scholarship fund is available to Saint Andrew’s members who are currently attending Lutheran colleges and universities.

The fund was established honoring the life and ministries of Pastor Homer W. Berner. He served as pastor of our congregation from February 3, 1963 until his first retirement on June 30, 1974. His chief joy in life, aside from his family, was his love in establishing new congregations. Upon ‘leaving’ Saint Andrew’s, he served another ten years as Chaplain at Overlake Hospital and as Pastor Emeritus.

In 2001, the fund was established with monies he had been given since his retirement as a housing stipend. At his death, the charitable remains of his estate ensured that generations of students would remember his commitment to the life of the Church. In most instances, these funds are matched dollar for dollar by the schools. The basic scholarship amount is $500.
