Congregation Liaison: Outreach and Servant Ministries Committee
The mission of The Sophia Way is to help end homelessness for adult women in King County by providing shelter, life skills training, social services and supportive permanent housing, offering a path from homelessness to stable independent living.
The Sophia Way operates:
Saint Andrew’s supports The Sophia Way with budgeted funds, through collections of household items, and participation at many of The Sophia Way events and fundraisers.
Saint Andrew’s provides lunch for the Sophia Way Day Center ladies every few months. Serving is not required, and food can be brought to Saint Andrew’s.
Check back for the date of our next lunch.
The Sophia Way is in need of volunteers in the Day Center for sorting the donated clothes and items they receive, and for making sure the women visiting the Day Center have the clothing they need. The Day Center is located on the lower level at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (3032 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue.)
Volunteers working in the Day Center will need to attend an orientation.
Women who come to the Day Center, Night Shelters, and EWS Shelter have some immediate needs of clothing, personal items, food, and other essentials. A current list of needed items (and drop off information) can be found at www.sophiaway.org/shelter-needs/.
Meals at the Day Center, Night Shelter, and EWS Shelter are also needed; visit www.sophiaway.org/donate-meals/ to sign up or for more information.
