Facilitator: Cheryl Jurrus
Staff Liaison: Sherry Grindeland, Fellowship Coordinator
Meeting time: Wednesdays | 10:00 am – 11:30 am | Room 212 (Library) AND via Zoom
All women are welcome to W.E.B.S. (Women’s Early Book Study)!
W.E.B.S. is centered on Christian Fellowship: Christ-centered devotions and prayer, sharing our experiences and ideas, learning about our world and ourselves, exploring our faith, and having fun together.
All participants are encouraged to present devotions and lead the discussions. We study books by examining the author’s background, locale of the book (maps), historical and political context, and statements about faith. We relate what we read to our own experiences and look for God’s work in our world and our lives. We invite guest speakers and go on trips to see some places first-hand. We pray, discuss, share, laugh, and have fun together!
Join in person or on Zoom. Contact Cheryl Jurrus or the church office to send the Zoom link.
We also have fellowship at picnics, dinners, lunches, garden tours, concerts, attend plays, and participate in service projects.
Contact Cheryl Jurrus (cheryljurrus74@gmail.com) to get the Zoom invitation.
Spring 2025: Wednesday mornings - April 30 - June 11.
A Wild and Heavenly Place by Robin Oliveira
A Wild and Heavenly Place by Robin Oliveira is our book selection for our Spring book discussions. This book is by a local author and she may be able to visit our group as our guest. The novel starts in the tenements of Glasgow, Scotland and follows our hero and heroine to Newcastle, Washington as they start a new life in the coal mines as immigrants. This is part of our series on prejudice.
We will meet on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. sharp and end at 11:30 a.m. promptly in the Church Library. Starting on Wednesday, April 30th, we will meet weekly until June 11th. We will read and discuss about 70 pages each week, but the reading is light and it will go fast. History (1878-1888), the role of the church, prejudice against the poor, geography, immigration, and faith will be some of our topics. All women are welcome to join us in person or on Zoom. Contact Cheryl Jurrus (cheryljurrus74@gmail.com) for more information.
“Poignant and lyrical, A Wild and Heavenly Place is an ode to the Pacific Northwest, to those courageous enough to chase the American Dream, and to a love so powerful it endures beyond distance, beyond hope.” (Amazon)
