Sunday Discipleship Hour Forum – How Lutherans Interpret the Bible

Session 3: Where the Bible Comes From | Sunday, October 25, 2020 | 10:45 am | via Zoom

Facilitator: Jean Wahlstrom

This sessions are part of a 7-session video series by Dr. Mark Allan Powell, a Lutheran pastor and Bible professor at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio.
In this video series Dr. Powell invites you to explore seven important questions about Lutherans and the Bible. He does not prescribe “the Lutheran way” to read the Bible nor does he dismiss the way you may have come to understand the Bible. Instead Dr. Powell presents a variety of Lutheran perspectives for interpreting the Bible.
Through Dr. Powell’s rich discussions you will discover answers to questions you have always had about the Bible.

Each session can be viewed as a stand-alone presentation. Additional sessions may be scheduled for later dates.

The video will be followed by a discussion facilitated by Jean Wahlstrom.

Sign up no later than the Saturday before the Forum so we can get the Zoom link emailed to you in time.

Sunday Discipleship Hour Forum – Saint Andrew’s Values and Value Statements

Sundays, November 1 and 8, 2020 | 10:45 am | via Zoom

Facilitators: Vision Initiative Team

As part of the Vision Initiative that was started in 2018, our congregation developed both a Mission Statement and a set of Value Statements. This two-part series will provide a background of how these values were developed and why they are designed to help identify what defines and motivates our congregation. It will review each of the four values and how they are guiding the ministry of our church. They should help us to prepare for the next steps in our visioning process. Each session will include time for questions.

November1: Worship and Discipleship
We will cover the history of how we developed the four values and our Mission Statement. Week One will discuss the values of Worship and Discipleship and how these values fit into our ministry.

November 8: Outreach and Relationship
In Week Two we will examine how the values of Outreach and Relationship fit into our ministry. It will wrap up with our looking ahead and how we can live according to these Values.

Sign up no later than the Saturday before the Forum so we can get the Zoom link emailed to you in time.
