Congregation Liaison: Outreach and Servant Ministries Committee
Lifelong is a community health organization committed to empowering people living with or at risk of HIV and/or other chronic conditions to lead healthier lives. Through the Chicken Soup Brigade program, Lifelong delivers meals and groceries to homebound, chronically ill individuals.
Meal Delivery Drivers
Saint Andrew’s is a distribution hub for weekly deliveries of meals for Chicken Soup Brigade (Lifelong). Meals and groceries are picked up at Saint Andrew’s on Thursdays and delivered to homebound individuals on the Eastside. The delivery window is typically 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday afternoons with around 2 to 4 stops. A complete route takes approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. It is a wonderful service that provides needed nourishment to those who may be housebound and ill.
We have a team of drivers at Saint Andrew’s who usually deliver one week per month, and always have a space for additional volunteers.
Choose to be a driver in the regular rotation or be a substitute driver and cover weeks where regular volunteers are on vacation.
You will need to attend an orientation. If you are interested in serving in this way, contact Outreach and Servant Ministries committee chair Marlyn Thorpe through the church office.
Youth Volunteers
Our youth also volunteer in the Lifelong kitchen on a regular basis, helping to prepare food and meals.
