Second Sunday after Pentecost ~ Affirmation of Baptism

Hebrews 11:1-3

Grace and peace to you from God, our Creator, and from our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The reading from Hebrews this morning is the beginning of a section in that book about the power of God to stir up faith within people. And we experience this power throughout our lives. For many of us, we’re steeped in it from the time we’re infants when we’re baptized, so we’ve always known it’s there. For others, God’s power is still active in our lives, but we may not recognize it until later on.

Either way, God is always present with us, shaping us through faith and making it part of our story – as individuals and as a congregation.

Today begins a new chapter in the story for all of us at Saint Andrew’s as we celebrate nine of our young people who will affirm the promises made on their behalf in baptism. Many of you have had the privilege of watching them grow from little kids into the young adults that they’re becoming.

Each of the Confirmands has written a statement of faith that shares who they are right now.

Following Pastor’s introduction, a number of Confirmands shared their faith statements.
