Devotional Word…..

All Thinking

I would rather be what God
            chose to make me
            than the most glorious
            creature that I could think of;

For to have been born
            in God’s thought
            and then made by God

is the dearest, grandest, and
            most precious thing
            in all thinking.

~ George MacDonald, 1880

· Sunday Morning Bible Study ~ 2 Peter
Sundays, August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23, 8:15 am, via Zoom
Led by Jean Wahlstrom and Marvin Kananen
The letter of 2 Peter attempts to answer the question: How Then Shall We Live? if God has done it all and given us all we need for this life. It says we should “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18). Come, join us as we search the scriptures to find out what this means: how do we grow in grace. Marvin considers 2 Peter a turning point in his life.

All Church Retreat - Canceled
Blame it on the pine beetles! Beetle damage to trees has kept the group camping sites at Cougar Rock Campground at Mount Rainier closed this spring and early summer.
We just received word the campground will be closed for August, too, which means our annual Saint Andrew’s Lutheran All Church Retreat will be postponed until 2021.
Meanwhile, wear your masks and stay healthy. And if you need a s’mores fix, contact Fellowship Coordinator Sherry Grindeland, or 425-746-2529, about how to make a microwaved version.

Praying in the Sanctuary
While we can’t yet hold traditional in-person worship services, you can now come to the Sanctuary for prayer. Keeping our congregation healthy and safe is our paramount concern, so we are asking everyone to sign up to come to pray. This will limit numbers and maintain physical distancing.
The Sanctuary is available 7:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday.
Sign up online at least 24 hours in advance. You will be sent more details and instructions for accessing the building after signing up.
Contact Fellowship Coordinator Sherry Grindeland,, or Communications Specialist Susan Hegedus,, with questions.

Contribute Prayers, Devotions, etc.
We invite everyone to share a prayer, devotion/reflection, beloved Bible verse or story, etc. with the congregation. Contributions may be written or an audio or video recording. Include a photo if it seems appropriate.
You are welcome to come to church or use Zoom to do the recording - contact Communications Specialist Susan Hegedus,, to make arrangements.
We may use these contributions in Trendings, the VOICE, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or on our website! Send contributions to Pastor Lara,, or Communications Specialist Susan Hegedus, Contact Susan if a file is too large to email.

Phishing Emails
We have had reports of fraudulent emails being sent that claim to be from Pastor Lara. Be assured that Pastor Lara would never send an email to ask for money, gift cards, etc. She would also never instruct you to only email and not call her. Be cautious of any suspicious emails or phone calls: scammers are at work!

Devotional Materials Available
We have received “Christ in Our Home” and “The Word in Season” devotional booklets for July/August/September. If you would like either or both of these booklets mailed to you, contact Office Administrator Mary Mills, or 425-746-2529.
