As this time of
pandemic continues, so does life in ever more unexpected ways. We pray for
all who are affected by the wildfires in our state – for the firefighters
and first responders, for those who have to evacuate, and for those who
have lost everything, especially the people in the town of Malden.
Be with all who are
having to learn new ways of doing things, especially parents, teachers, and
students. Grant them the resources they need – not just computers and a
reliable Wi-Fi connection, but also patience and grace as they navigate
these uncharted waters.
We ask these things
trusting that you hear them, O God, and that you will answer. Amen.

Over the last
few months, our congregation has committed to having conversations about
several socially pertinent issues. This is good! As a Christian community,
we are called to engage these topics and consider the ways God is at work
in and through them. It is important, however, that we have these
conversations with respect for the people with whom we are talking. When
you discuss these (or any other) issues, please keep the following
guidelines in mind:
R = Take responsibility
for what I say without blaming others
E = Use empathetic
S = Be sensitive
P = Ponder
what we say, think, and feel
E = Examine
our own assumptions
C = Keep confidentiality
