April 24, 2024

Prayer

Thank you for your world, God, and for our part in it. Thanks that you are a maker, and that you made us makers, too. Help us to love creation as you love it, to take risks to value it as Jesus did, and draw us into the wildness and wonder of your Holy Spirit today and every day. Amen.

Prayer of Thanks for Creation, adapted by Reverend Lara Forbes. Iona Abbey Worship Book, page 167

News to Share

Saint Andrew’s Constitution
On March 11, 2024, the Congregation Council approved Continuing Resolutions amendments in the Saint Andrew’s Constitution, updating the descriptions for the Building and Property and Worship and Liturgical Arts Committees to clarify that the Sanctuary space is a jointly and equally shared responsibility of both committees. The current version of the Saint Andrew’s Constitution can be found at salc.church/constitution.

Food Collection for Hopelink
For April, Hopelink has asked us to collect items for people with dietary restrictions. They have many vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, and nut-free or peanut-free clients. Suggested items include vegan and vegetarian soups (Amy’s brand for example), gluten-free pasta, sunflower butter, almond butter, canned salmon/fish, and any allergen-free product. Bring all donations to the Corner of Blessing in the Narthex.

Staffing Update
Communications Specialist Susan Hegedus has submitted her letter of resignation, as she would like more time to spend with family. The transition will take some time, and Susan and congregation leadership will work together to determine her final working date.

Bellevue Churches Collaboration Forum
Sunday, May 5, 11:15 am, Fellowship Hall North
For the past year or two we have been exploring ideas on how we might work more collaboratively with churches in our Cluster. The goal is to increase our missional impact and better steward our resources. As that work continues, the three Bellevue churches - Saint Andrew’s, Cross of Christ, and Saint Luke’s - have formed a “Bellevue Churches Steering Committee” to explore bold ideas to see where God may be leading us in this effort. The Steering Committee has formed subgroups with these areas of focus:  1) Governance, 2) Finance and Staffing, 3) Missional Outreach. Carolynn Ferris, Pastor Lara, Bill Brueggemann, Tom Getzinger, and Jean Wahlstrom are part of the Steering Committee.
Following worship on Sunday, May 5, Carolynn Ferris and Pastor Lara are hosting a Forum to provide an update on the collaboration work, answer questions, and seek input. Please plan to come!
