Coordinator: Health and Wholeness Ministry

Health and Wholeness Ministry assembles Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief (LWR).

These kits are distributed by LWR around the world, providing hygiene, dignity and hope to those in crisis situations. The kits are sent to areas of the world where an emergency has occurred, and people are left with very little.  The kits supply basic items for survival.

We collect items for Personal Care Kits year-round, and have special collections during Lent and the Fall.  The items needed are:

  • bath towels (lightweight, dark colored, size: 20″ x 40″ to 27″ x 52″)
  • bars of soap (4-5 ounces in original packaging)
  • adult-sized toothbrushes (in original packaging; can be multi-packs)
  • large sturdy combs (sturdy, no picks or fine tooth combs)
  • metal nail clippers (large or small, attached nail file optional)

Donations can be placed in the basket near the elevator in the Narthex. Kits are assembled and sent to LWR twice per year.
We also accept monetary donations. Make the check payable to Saint Andrew’s and note “Kits – Lutheran World Relief” in the memo line.
