    Advent 2020

Advent begins Sunday, November 29. Our theme is “PROMISE”.
The season of Advent is often considered to be a companion season to Lent in the sense that it is a season of preparation. We are asked to spend time in intentional reflection and repentance to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. Within this reflection and repentance, however, we find promise – specifically that God coming to us as Jesus, the Messiah, will forever change the world.

Sundays of Advent, November 29, December 6, December 13, and December 20, 2020

Worship with Holy Communion | 9:30 am  |  Worship is LIVESTREAMED ONLY (no in-person worship)
Go to Livestream Links and Information

Each Sunday in Advent, we will consider the different facets of this promise and how it is made visible in our lives.
You are encouraged to have four candles in your worship space at home during Advent and light one each Sunday. Special music is planned for each Sunday’s service.

Wednesdays during Advent – no midweek worship services

There are no Advent midweek services. Pastor Lara is providing weekly devotional reflections. It is our prayer that these reflections bring you a sense of hope and peace.

Blue Christmas Worship Service, December 16, 2020 | 7:00 pm | via Livestream on YouTube

What is a Blue Christmas worship service and why are we having one?
The holidays are often referred to as being “the most wonderful time of the year” and, indeed, there are many reasons to be festive and celebratory. For many people, though, this time of year is anything but wonderful and is, instead, filled with depression, sadness, and grief. This year, in particular, has given us much to be upset about. In addition to the grief we’ve experienced over the deaths of loved ones, we are also faced with not being able to come to church during Advent or on Christmas Eve, as well as with the likelihood of having to be apart from family and friends during this season.
A Blue Christmas worship service is a contemplative time of prayer and music that gives voice to these feelings and assures us that we are not alone in them. More importantly, it offers us the promise that God is with us in this time and that there is reason to hope.
If you are not able to watch the service live, a link to it will be available on our website.
