Johnna Long first joined the efforts made by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in 2017 while living in New York City. She continued her involvement after moving back to the Seattle area and joined the Washington State Board of Directors. Most recently she spent time speaking to Congress advocating two separate bills being pushed by AFSP, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the Effective Suicide Screening and Assessment in the Emergency Department Act of 2021. She also helped lead the Seattle area Washington State Out of the Darkness walk.
